What is it?
The Fell Pony Society is launching a New Inter Area Championship for the best Fell pony (in-hand). The championship final will take place at the end of the Southern Show, which is on 12 September at Crown Farm, Ascott under Wychwood, Oxon. The winner will receive the Bewcastle Boy Blue Trophy presented by Miss Mary Longsdon MBE and prize money of £50. The reserve will receive prize money of £25 (see www.fellsouthernshow.com for details).
Who qualifies for the final?
Each Area support group is entitled to put forward two ponies for the final. The method used to choose those ponies is up to each individual Area.
How do I qualify in the MESG Area?
The Midlands East Support Group will be running mini in-hand championships at both the Spring and Sandringham Shows in order to select its qualifying ponies (one from each show). The highest placed eligible pony from each in-hand class will automatically qualify for the mini-championship, and the winner of the mini-championship will be entitled to go forward to the championship final at the Southern Show in September.
What is an eligible pony?
In order to qualify for the MESG mini-championship ponies must be owned and exhibited by MESG members who reside, and whose ponies must be kept, in the MESG area (Beds, Bucks, Cambs, Essex, Herts, Leics, Lincs, Norfolk, Northants, Notts, Oxon, Rutland, Suffolk).
